- game 2 vs hillcrest >> we lost 12-10
- game 3 vs makini >> we won. i forgot the score =P
- game 4 vs juja >> we lost 12-2
- we did not move on to semi-finals b/c we needed a 3-1 record.
remember the food club idea i mentioned in my last post? well we decided that every two weeks we would go to a different ethnic place. last time was ethiopian. this time it was mexican. we ordered burritos, enchiladas, and tacos from a place called paprika. it was pretty good imo. their enchiladas aren't covered in sauce and cheese like in the states. the burritos remind me of chipotle b/c they were huge and filled with rice. the tacos looked really good. i'll definitely have to go on my own one day and order that. next time i think we decided on indian food. butter chicken....*drool*

afterwards, we attempted to watch a movie. we needed to take a mattatu (public transportation van) out to the theater. it costs 20 shillings which is about $0.30. if you wanna pose as a major tourist, bust out your camera in a mat and take pictures....hahahaa!

however when we got there, we found out that the movie superbad is rated R...oops. so we ended up hanging out at java. while we were there, we ran into a ton of familiar faces. around 5:30pm, i finally go home. what a day...and it's not even over yet.

want some pics? ok. on saturday, i went with some of the guys to eat ethiopian food at a place called habesha. we're thinking about starting a food club where we try different ethnic places.

how often do you find one of these suckers hanging around at your school?

we played a soccer and bball game on tuesday against a british school called brookhouse. i think it goes without saying that they've got money...at least enough to build a castle! they had some huge girls on their bball team, so we got outrebounded nearly every play. we lost 43-15. i wish we could play them again later in the season.

observation #1: ton of females (no surprise, right?)
observation #2: finding the asian guy is like playing where's waldo? i should've worn a red/white striped sweater.

to many americans, 9/11 marks a significant day due to the tragedy in new york. during my visit to ethiopia this past year, i discovered that 9/11 of this year marks the millenium for ethiopia. so today, they celebrate the year 2000, which is why i bought this tshirt. i was so caught up in taking care of school stuff that i completely forgot about going to an ethiopian restaurant for dinner to celebrate. so cheers to my buddies in ethiopia! =]

my camera is here!!! yay!!! i was so excited to get it on sunday b/c i was dying to take pictures today. it was our first girls bball game for this season. we started off the season against ISK (international school of kenya) just like last year. this time around, we're playing against their JV team, AND this time we have uniforms!!! aw yea!!! yea i'm goin crazy with these exclamation points b/c i was excited for our girls today. they've been working hard during practice, and it all paid off at the end of the game. the score was tied at 13-13 at the end of regulation. we had an intense 2min overtime. i'm sure everyone watching the game held their breath every time any shot went up. our girls played tough defense and took advantage of fastbreak opportunities at the end. congratulations girls!!!
before the game, i got a great picture of the girls stretching. this picture makes me proud b/c i had been preaching about studying the other team during practice. and here they are scoping out the other team every chance they get.

this picture is awesome because we took a team pic last year with the scoreboard also. it's also great because we have these awesome uniforms with the right color and our school name on there. the girl next to me is a former teammate of ours. she goes to a different school now, but she came out to support us. there's another former teammate of ours who happened to play for ISK. i wish we got a picture with her, but she had to head back to the locker room with her team afterwards.

FRONT (L-R): katie, naomi, katila
BACK (L-R): me, kelsie, becca, anna, retoyia, kate, hannah
oh yea, fyi this isn't our entire team. we have a couple more players that helped out our other team today. i'll be sure to take another team photo with all of them.
today was a surprise day. what do i mean by that? well i thought my day would only be filled with geometry and the bball game after school. i come in and realize that i have remedial teaching with 2 students during 1st period. 2nd i have geometry. one of the teachers got really sick, so i ended up taking her PE classes 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th period. so i took kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classes for PE. right afterwards, i headed to the game. the evening ended nicely with a trip to the movies. we watched no reservations. the girl from little miss sunshine is still so cute. i hope my daughter will enjoy wearing long striped socks with converses...hahahaa! i hope everyone is doing well. please pray for mrs.mok.
